Current projects

Femmes du monde à Côte-des-Neiges offers a wide variety of activities for women. These activities help break social isolation, create a network, and encourage empowerment. The diversity in our program helps us reach women’s different interests, it aims to create a supportive living environment through sharing between peers and promotes access to different resources in the community.

CONJUGAL VIOLENCE

A shared solution 2020-2023

Aiming to raise awareness on conjugal violence, this project targets women. men and young people (13-17 years old) of the neighborhood, this partnership was born from the need to continue collaborative work between family groups and the centre in order to better support women and children victim of conjugal violence.

The project aims to equip animators and work teams to facilitate mixed and separate gender meetings, including a training component for all years. These trainings are made possible thanks to the support and collaboration of the Alliance des maisons d’hébergement de 2e étape pour femmes et enfants victimes de violence conjugale as a specialized resource in the field of conjugal violence.

This awareness project on conjugal and family violence is made possible thanks to funding from the Secrétariat à la condition féminine and in partnership with the neighborhood family organization, Baobab familial.

Neighborhoods allied against violence against women

2021-2023

Following the wave of femicides in 2020, the need to create and strengthen the safety for women and children has become a priority.

Quartiers alliés contre les violences faite aux femmes aims to raise awareness and give tools to the community workers, municipal employees and all citizens of the borough in order to be true allies in the face of this violence.

The project is divided into two main components:

  • Create an awareness campaign aiming to raise visibility on the issue and highlight existing resources.
  • Training and awareness for community workers and front-line employees in the borough.

The project wants to build a real safety net in our borough, and for many members of our community, to become agents of social transformation and hubs for people in need of support and help. Download the campaign tools!

This project is made possible thanks to the Entente administrative sur la gestion des Fonds québécois d’initiatives sociales as part of the alliances for solidarity between the Ministère du Travail, de l’Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale and the City of Montréal.

Immigrant Women and Leadership

The Immigrant Women and Leadership project aims to break women’s isolation, strengthen their skillsets and encourage them to improve their knowledge and their network.

The project tackles the unemployment rate of women with an immigrant background, which is higher than the city’s average. This has an impact on women’s isolation and a gradual decrease of their self-esteem in the ability to find a long-term solution to their integration in their new society.

Through various workshops, women reinforce their esteem and improve their confidence in the workplace.
